Q: How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment online through our website, or just get in touch on the contacts page or the pick up the phone desk. We recommend booking in advance to ensure your preferred time slot is available.

Q: Do I need to arrive early for my appointment?

No, please arrive on time. We have set aside plenty of time for your therapy plus any check in and conversation. You should allow a few minutes at the end of your initial session, and add an extra 15 minutes to your parking time. Although we have a comfortable waiting area, there is no reception here, so arriving early may disturb the client before you.

Q: Is there parking available?

There is limited, paid, on street parking on Charlotte Square. There should be more availability on St Colme St or Alva St. The west end is well served by busses and the tram.

Q: What should I wear to my massage session?

Wear comfortable clothing to your appointment. During the massage, you will be appropriately draped to ensure your privacy and comfort at all times.

Q: How do I know which therapist to choose?

If you have any medical conditions or concerns, please let us know when booking your appointment and inform your therapist before your session begins. This helps us tailor our services to your needs and ensure your safety.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept and can I use my private medical insurance?

We accept cash or contactless. Unless you have paid in advance. All insurance policies vary and some will cover manual therapy. If your insurance does cover manual therapy we can give you a specific receipt for you to claim back the cost of the session yourself. Please speak to your therapist at your appointment.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.

What types of massage do you offer and which one should I choose?

You can find a detailed answer to this question in our blog section. At Harmonic Bodywork, we don’t focus on categorising massages by type. Instead, our priority is providing the treatment that best matches your individual needs and preferences. Our team of experienced therapists are trained in a wide variety of massage techniques and styles and can help you choose the best option for your needs. We focus on outcome lead therapy and will adapt our techniques to your individual requirements.

Are your therapists licensed?

There is no official license for massage therapists in the UK so no, they are not licensed. However, all our therapists are fully trained in a viariety of bodywork techniques and are fully insured. In addition, our therapists all take part in regular CPD sessions led by Osteopath Robbie ...... so you could say they are more qualified than would be required for a “license”. Will the massage hurt?

Sometimes, you might feel uncomfortable, especially if you have areas with adhesions or trigger points (knots), but the sensation shouldn’t be overly painful. The idea of "no pain, no gain" doesn’t apply here—we don’t want you to experience pain because it can cause muscle tension and reduce the effectiveness of the therapy. Your therapist will apply sufficient pressure to achieve your required outcome goals.

Feeling a bit sore after a massage isn’t unusual. This can happen as your chronically tense muscles relax and start to recover. It’s much like the mild ache you might get the day after exercising at the gym, but it typically goes away quickly.

Sensitive or "Embarrassing" Concerns

What if I am self-conscious about my body, a scar, or body hair etc?

Please don't let this stop you from getting help from a massage therapist. If you're sensitive about a particular area, ask them to avoid it. You can also opt for a fully clothed massage. Whatever your concerns, know that your therapists are professionals who prioritise client comfort, are friendly, supportive and judgment-free, and modesty is protected with towels/blankets.
